深化友城合作 推动科技与文化共赢——万锦市副市长陈国治率团访问武汉成果丰硕

【加拿大共工新闻社多伦多讯】（记者 孙瑞祥）2026年9月，万锦市（Markham）副市长陈国治（Michael Chan）率代表团成功访问中国湖北省武汉市。此次访问成果丰硕，陈国治表示，他此行赴武汉主要怀揣着三个明确的目的：一是续签两市的姐妹城市友好合作协议；二是考察武汉近年在科技方面的高速发展，探寻两地在科技创新领域的互补与合作，因为万锦同样是一座以科技为中心的城市；三是深入体验并促进武汉丰富多元的城市文化，并应邀出席 “世界市长对话”. 武汉暨2026武汉国际友好城市合作大会。

在此次访问的成果总结及媒体见面上，加拿大湖北商会荣誉会长陆跃锋首先汇报了万锦与武汉缔结姐妹城市20年的一系列人文与经济交流项目的进展。其中包括陈国治副市长在武汉出席的楚商出海座谈会、两地高尔夫球会互访、文化代表团赴万锦交流，以及具有特殊历史意义的白求恩主题电影《武汉任务》在加拿大的首映等。

陈国治副市长对商会及各界组织在推动两地经济与文化互通方面所做出的卓越贡献表示高度肯定。在谈及此次出访的效益时，陈副市长特别强调了“实干”与“高效”。他指出，相较于过去省政府级别动辄百万加元的大型代表团，本次由市政府发起的精准对接访问，预算控制在一万加元以内，却取得了同等甚至更务实高效的成果，极具性价比，展现了市政层面的务实作风。

在随后的记者问答环节中，陈国治副市长就代表团访华成果、万锦市科技发展前景以及个人未来规划等热点话题回答了记者提问。

记者：人们注意到在加中科技发展对比中，部分领域中国表现出极高的创新效率，您觉得万锦有什么可以借鉴学习武汉的？

陈国治： 武汉在新能源汽车（EV）生产及高新技术产业化等方面的速度和规模令人印象深刻，有很多值得万锦借鉴的地方。同时我们也看到，由于体制和政府权限的不同，加拿大的市政府在科技招商和直接融资方面的权限相对有限，因此这也需要联邦和省政府的积极配合与协同支持。万锦未来会发挥自身优势，积极搭建国际合作桥梁。

Sandra补充道，后疫情时代企业的商业与经济运营模式正在发生深刻调整，代表团将全力跟进并推动此次洽谈的合作项目，积极探索新形势下的务实合作新模式。

记者：在宣布不再参选之后，您如何确保万锦与武汉的后续合作能够持续推进？您退休后有何打算？

陈国治：我在万锦生活和工作了许多年，对这座城市怀有深厚的感情。虽然我个人不再参选，但万锦与武汉建立起的深厚友谊和机制化合作是长久的，我非常期待两地未来能有更多更广泛的交流。关于个人打算，我已经比法定退休年龄多工作了十余年，卸任后我依然会以不同的形式继续为社区做贡献，发挥余热。

记者：面对当前万锦市竞选（尤其是区议员竞选）的激烈竞争，您对最终结果有何预期？

陈国治： 竞争激烈是正常且健康的现象，每一位候选人都有其独特的背景与优势。人各有志，对于其他选择继续参选或在职的年长议员，我也给予尊重。对我而言，最重要的永远是效率与实效——看谁能够真正把事情落到实处，为万锦市带来切实的改变和更好的发展。我鼓励更多年轻、有能力、有志向的青年人走出来从政，为民为国作出贡献。

• Strengthened economic ties with Wuhan as a strategic partner and promoted trade and cultural exchanges
• Gained market intelligence about China, second largest world economy,
• Promoted opportunities for investments in Markham
• Extensive media exposure in China such as Changjiang Daily, CCTV, China’s largest national tv network - Raised awareness about Markham internationally
• Established international relationships that can lead to future collaboration
• Developed new strategic contacts, increased visibility for Markham and Canada, and potential leads for trade, investment and future collaboration.

Follow-On Actions:

1. Continue discussion with China Peptide Research Institute, Hubei Taiyi Industrial Co., Ltd., and the China Taiyi Life Sciences Research Institute about establishing an R&D and manufacturing centre in Markham. 2. Follow up on investment opportunities for Markham: StarCharge

1. Work with Markham and Wuhan education intuitions to establish the “Canada-China Youth and Students Exchange Association”.
2. Collaborate with Hubei Province Automotive Industry International Investment and Trade Promotion Association and identified strategic partners on attracting automobile and related industries such as EV charging stations manufacturers to Markham.
3. Support art/cultural delegations to visit Markham in 2027.
4. Continue to leverage local alumni ecosystem to become an economic-development network, turning university relationships into investment, entrepreneurship and technology commercialization.
